The garden occupies a small area within a larger walled garden. The remainder of the site is home to the Woodside Plant Centre and Birdhouse Tearoom.
The garden, like any other, requires ongoing management and maintenance. Over the last 12 months has seen significant clearing to bring plants back to their best. Replanting has been essential for some areas, and the entrance flower bed and bog garden are examples of this. Ongoing tasks include ensuring the safety of the pond’s viewing platform, removing invasive plants and providing more seating. We are also engaged in making the garden more accessible for those with limited mobility.
Principal considerations in our work are ensuring the provision of a rich and varied habitat for wildlife, be it birds, insects, amphibians or small mammals, but also offering peaceful spaces for quiet thought and reflection.
